Meet Your Instructors
Hi! I’m Megan Wells and I’ve been teaching art for 20+ years to all ages and skill levels. I like to think my teaching style is warm and approachable that helps even the most intimidating techniques feel totally doable - and my “Funky Florals” style has inspired thousands of students to pick up a brush and just make something.
My goal in teaching is to point others towards enjoying the process of making art and ultimately to Jesus. Joy is contagious and through my work I get to spread that around!
After 6 years of teaching high school students at a Christian school, I ventured into the full-time artist world. Makewells Inc. was founded in 2012 and since then I’ve authored 5 instructional books, illustrated coloring books, and had my work sold by major retailers such as Hobby Lobby, Barnes and Noble, Pottery Barn Tean/Kids, and more. I never dreamed I’d get to do some of these things and believe it or not, started out as a full-time “maker of things” by just addressing envelopes in a fun, creative way!
This is my 20th online course and part of my most popular series, Funky Florals. I’m excited for this new direction with Funky Florals! This course has been a long time coming… and it’s something I hope will continue to grow!
Mary Wangerin is a mixed media artist, faith journaler, and creative teacher who believes in the art of noticing: seeing glimpses of God in the beautiful and ordinary moments of life. Her colorful, whimsical work combines painted layers, ephemera, hand-lettering, and scripture, and invites others to create with joy rather than perfection.
A long time Illustrated Faith artist and contributor, Mary loves encouraging people to play with color, experiment with new techniques, and to make their faith visible through art. She loves helping others discover that faith journaling doesn’t have to be perfect, polished, or complicated, but rather a place to play, pray, notice, and draw closer to God.
Mary loves coffee dates, Gilmore Girls marathons, thrifting, road trips, daily walks in the forest, and getting her hands messy with paint.
